AN EXCITING EDGE TO PRAYING THE SCRIPTURES

I was reading the introduction to Scripture Keys for Kingdom Living and found a new three-fold way to pray the scriptures. It was Step 2 that really set the firecrackers off in my soul.

Step 1: Find the scripture that speaks to your heart regarding the issue you’re praying for. Thank God for whatever the scripture says. Even if you start off pleading with Him (like we all do at times), it’s important to get to the place you’re thanking Him, rather than begging Him.

Step 2 **EXCITING EXCITING**: Say the scripture to the devil, prefacing it with, “It is written!” This is what our Lord Jesus used as His weapon against Satan in the wilderness, and the devil had to back off. This is a way to aggressively move forward with prayer.

God stands behind His Word. The Almighty God calls it a sword and buckler (Eph 6:17 and Ps 91:4). A sword is an assertive hostile weapon. Generally we think of a buckler as an implement that will shield us. That’s true, but it also has projections on the front to pierce and injure any enemy. We push Satan back with the sword and buckler. Jesus said, “It is written” to directly confront the devil and we can too. The written Word of God is a signed contract telling us what is ours and what is true. We need to remind the devil that what God has written, he can’t stop.

Step 3: Say the scripture to yourself, prefacing it with, “I believe.”

Using this three-fold way of praying will strengthen your prayer life and affect the answers you’re seeking.

PRAYING MANTIS WINGS AND OUR SECRET WEAPONS

I looked out onto the patio and saw something strange going on. My cat, Snowy, was slowly backing up, ears flattened against his head and shackles up. His teeth were snarling and he was hissing. Something was scaring him and making him back off.

I opened the sliding glass door and went out slowly, expecting to seesome big stray cat or dog ready to attack. What I saw was something quite different.

It was only a 2 inch praying mantis with its colorful, frightfully angular wings spread out wide like a mantle over her. She looked ferocious and she was running full speed toward Snowy! They don’t often show their wings. It’s like their secret weapon and apparently it works well. Snowy turned tail and scurried into the house through the opened patio door!

Sometimes the angels act in a similar way, to be our secret weapons. A few years back, I was having a particularly hard time at work and I felt weakened. I looked up the scripture in Psalm 103:20 “Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.” I prayed they would go to my work ahead of me and help me there.

When I got to work, I went upstairs to the open loft where we did our painting. Around the edge was a three-foot wooden railing. I could see in the spirit a very large angel sitting comfortably on the corner. His wings spread out to each side along the edge of my work space. I felt protected and strong. This went on every day for several months until I moved to a new work location, where it seemed I didn’t need the added protection any more.

Every year my garden is visited by praying mantis so I’ve had plenty of opportunities to observe them, but only once did I see one spread its wings out like when it chased my cat across the patio.

Like the mantis, we don’t always go around showing off our stuff, but when it becomes necessary, we certainly have our secret weapons. One of them is the privilege to pray for the Lord to send angels. They are loosed in heaven and according to Hebrews 1:14 and Matthew 4:11 they minister to us and for us. Most of the time we don’t even know they’re there but they are strong to protect us and can back off danger.

A STORY OF HEALING AND FAITH

My heart thrilled when I received this unexpected message: “You prayed for me in 1979, when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter. I had health issues which caused me to fear that I would lose her.”

Soon after this incident, I was sent to a different city and lost contact. I never heard the results of my prayer until 34 years later! The message went on to say, “You said you saw a clear, healthy embryo. Today, she is 33, the mother of two.” Wow, what at blessing! So often we don’t hear back what God did for the people we prayed for, or ministered healing to. So how do we know if it worked or not?

I remember when I was living in South Africa and prayed for Sammy. I laid hands on him and prayed his kidney stones would be dissolved. He ended up in the hospital with appendicitis!

That bothered me for years. I wondered why I didn’t get it right. When I ministered to people after that, I seemed to always have this little doubt coming up, wondering if I really got it right. One day the Holy Spirit stopped me from doubting and gave me the answer.

The Lord explained to me, “When you prayed for Sammy, I dissolved the kidney stones instantly. He did have them. You didn’t get it wrong. There was just more, that’s all, and he got that taken care of in the hospital.” Wow, what a simple answer and it set me free! I’ve never doubted myself in this category since.

The answer is simple: When we pray or minister in faith, from our hearts, and do the best we know how, then we can be assured that it works. Healing is always God’s will.

In the Old Testament, “For I am the Lord that healeth [is healing] thee” (Ex 15: 26). And in the Gospels, “Jesus went about healing every sickness and every disease among the people” (Matt 9: 35) and Jesus said, “they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mk 16:18).

In the Epistles, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth [is prospering]” (3 John 2) and “the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him (James 5:15).

There are hundreds of scriptures about healing and many that address specific ailments. We need to look them up, meditate on them and believe. And if our faith is small now in some categories, be assured, with persistence, it will grow.

Paul wrote about the Christians in Thessalonica, “Your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing” (2 Thess 1:3). Be like the Thessalonians.

No matter how old or young you are, don’t ever doubt yourself when it comes to praying or ministering healing to others. Even if you don’t hear the good results right away, trust God that He has given you the heart of His love and that when you pray or minister, it does work!

WHY EASTER? - ACCEPTING CHRIST AS SAVIOR AND LORD

Romans 6:23 says, “The wages [payment] of sin is death.” This is not a “maybe.” It is absolute truth. The consequences of sin come in the form of immediate death or in various partial deaths—body parts not working right, various sicknesses and diseases, accidents, bad relationships, etc.

God knew that once sin got started, the results would be passed from generation to generation, no matter how good a person tries to be. Sin destroys people. So God gave them a different way to pay for sin.

They could substitute a personal sacrifice, paying with something very dear to them and the sin would be covered for a certain period of time. In Old Testament times they sacrificed sheep, wheat, barley, doves and other things that were precious to them and valuable. This quickly got perverted in many cultures to sacrificing babies and virgins (the purest and most precious), which of course is the exact opposite of what God wanted.

God’s ultimate plan was to give His own son Jesus to mankind, trusting that Jesus would escape death and hell by never committing any sin.

When you accept Jesus into your heart and life you have the most valuable and precious treasure imaginable, greater than anything else in all God’s creation.

And when it comes to giving up your most valuable treasure as a payment for sin, you didn’t even have to think about it, because Jesus already did it. He gave His life for all our sins because He loved us. And by the way, He knew what he was getting when He got us, our broken miserable selves with all our problems, but He did it anyway!

Jesus was a perfect man and He was the payment for all mankind’s sins. But instead of having to remain dead or in hell, God raised Him from the dead as victorious over everything bad. When we believe in Him, He’s willing to be our Lord. Could you get any better than that? No.

If you don’t know Jesus Christ and you want to, then say with your mouth, “Jesus You’re my Lord, and I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead, free and victorious over everything.” (Rom 10:9-10).

Jesus Christ comes into your heart and all the old sin is washed out. You become a new person with the seed of Christ in you to stay. And that seed in you rejects sin. So when you slip up (and we all do), God says just admit it, say you’re sorry and you’re forgiven. Jesus as your Lord will get you the deliverance you need if you’ll only let Him. You can stop making payments for your sins right now. Receive and claim your perfect health in Jesus’ name and your forgiveness from sin.

Jesus paid it all. He died for everything about you and He is alive to lead you and take care of you. You can live free in the goodness of God’s plan for your victorious life now and forever.

JESUS: BLOODSHED 7 TIMES FOR 7 ASPECTS OF OUR LIVES

If you have problems in any of these 7 areas of your life, get ready to be blessed, because you are about to be delivered.

Jesus first bled in the garden of Gethsemane when he was stressing over doing God’s will or His own. He chose God’s will but he sweated blood over it. Because of this, we can choose God’s will over our own, without sweating blood. (Luke 22:41).

Secondly Jesus bled when His body was torn apart by the whipping and beating from the Roman soldiers. He shed blood in this way so that all the things wrong with our physical bodies could be erased and fixed.

The third place Jesus bled was internally. The Bible says, “He was bruised” (Is 53:5). That’s an internal thing and it was so that any deep emotional or spiritually-induced hurts, including evil spirits could be vanished from our lives.

The fourth blood shed was from the crown of thorns thrust into Jesus’ head. This was for eliminating any and all mental disorders and wrong thinking patterns.

Number five: Jesus bled from His hands. This puts the healing power on our hands and applies to anything we do with our hands. For instance we touch people and animals with our hands; we touch money with our hands; we make things; we hold things; we give things away; we fix things; we click the “like” buttons on our computers. Any inappropriate things we now do with our hands can be miraculously changed by believing in the blood Jesus shed from His hands for the cleansing and blessing of our hands. God promises in Deuteronomy 12:7, “Ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto.” And Mark 16:18 says, “They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

Number six is when Jesus bleed from His feet. This was for the paths we take in life. It means we can walk on the good paths He has for us and we don’t have to stumble along and get hurt on the wrong ones.

And lastly, number seven. He was speared through His belly, His lungs and His heart—making sure His life force bled out. Jesus gave up His entire life so we could receive a better life, an everlasting life with Him and God and angels and all the other beautiful things in Heaven.

If we need help in any of these parts of our lives, this is the time of year to get it. People around the world are looking to the cross of Jesus and His wonderful raising from the dead. This is not a time for sorrow but a time for receiving and rejoicing in what He gave us on the cross.

OUR JESUS HAD CHOICES

Jesus wasn’t a God-robot. He had total freedom of will to choose just like we do. And He’s not the exact same as God either. James 1:13 says, “God cannot be tempted.” But Jesus “was in all points tempted like as we are” (Heb 4:15). He could have chosen to be disobedient, just like Lucifer chose in the beginning. But rather. . .

Jesus chose to be obedient to God because of us. He believed in what obedience would bring. He believed in his Father’s good will for mankind. The first chapter of John tells us Jesus was there when God created everything: elephants, rabbits, tiny neutrons, huge galaxies, mountains, flowers and everything else—all things for mankind to explore, utilize and enjoy.

Jesus knew God’s intention from the beginning and after Adam sinned and the devil began to have so much influence on earth, Jesus was willing to come to earth and go up against the devil to rescue men and women from his clutches.

To do this Jesus would have to beat Satan at every turn. He would have to live as a man and face all the temptations any man or woman would face. And He had to handle them by choosing God’s way every time.
He didn’t give in to even one temptation to make a bad choice.

As we accept Jesus Christ into our hearts, He gives us the ability to turn to Him for better choices in every situation. He’s been there.

God was sure Jesus would do the right thing but because He loves us so much, He was willing to let Jesus come to earth and live as a man and have freedom of will. Jesus could have chosen differently if He’d wanted to. But because He loved us too, He chose to go through with God’s plan at every turn. He took the horrible results of every bad decision we make and He paid the ultimate price of death and hell.

Then God raised Jesus pure and free forever.

Romans 8:34 says Jesus is at the right hand of God, now living to make intercession for us. He is also right here with us to help us with our choices and Colossians 1:27 says we have Christ in us. How can He be in so many places at once? He’s Spirit and even the scientists now are proving that things can be in two places at once. It’s awesome.

Just like Jesus had decisions to make, let’s make an effort to give God honor by making good decisions ourselves and when we honestly don’t know what choice to make, take it to Jesus, because He always knows the best choice at that time. He’s been through it. He took our place on the cross so that He could always be there to help us.

Love, Carolyn

PS: I chose this picture because it's like a child's coloring book, simple and quiet. I wanted to show that not every choice is an adult one and ultra-dramatic and life changing. Many choices are in the everyday innocent decisions and small choices that may or may not make huge seeable differences :-).

YOU WOULDN'T WANT YOUR WORST ENEMY TO GO TO HELL

Can’t wrap your mind around forgiveness? Take a look at any of these videos about hell; you’re not going to want your worst enemy to go.

Jesus tells us that hell was designed for the devil and his demons, not for man. Matt 25:41 “Then shall he say also unto them, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.”

Proverbs 24:17 says, “Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth.” And Jesus, as he was being crucified said, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.”

You’ll see why Jesus said that when you watch any of these short videos on hell. I’ve also included a few clips of people who’ve made contracts with Satan, like Bob Dylan, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Michael Jackson and several rap stars, and what happens to them.

There’s hundreds of scriptures in the Bible about hell, the devil and Satan but for the most part we’ve chosen not to look at them. But this stuff is real.

Did you ever wonder about the phrase, “weeping and gnashing of teeth?” I have. One of the videos listed below defines this in a way you will understand what it means. These clips are by various people, not preachers necessarily in the traditional way we see them. The most conservative of all are Bill Wiese and his wife.

You’ll never see things quite the same after watching any of these. And you’ll have a great desire to forgive and help people. I‘m not an expert on this, but I’m not afraid to look because it was a subject Jesus had a lot to say about. God shows us the truth of our times if we want to know. I believe we have to open our eyes. People in our world are in trouble and we can help them.

Love, Carolyn

These are just some of the clips I’ve looked at. There’s many more. The Bible describes horrific things about hell and these videos could be scary to some people, so look at your own risk. Most are not professionally done, so be a little patient. Also I highly recommend you only watch one or two at a time. It’s a lot to take in.

1. Bill Wiese – 23 Minutes in Hell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gzpjzS2GIc
2. This is a pretty creepy one but informative https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkgunX_Sa_0
3. This guy is simple and sweet. Have a little patience with him. He defines “gnashing of teeth” in a way I could understood it.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxAyw-fxJ_U
4. Tireo is a Christian rapper. He’s a little wild, but when you consider the nature of many rappers, he is perfect for that genre https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkqSC8z2RIk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwUffrMRDqE
5. A few clips about celebrities selling their souls to Satan:
Beyonce (go to about half way through and start there) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moojoNsxtyc

Katy Perry, Kayne West, Bob Dylan contract with Satan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDM7D1teDco
